ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Peace in Our Schools is an independent organization dedicated to fostering a culture of peace, empathy, and dialogue among young people worldwide.

We design and implement interactive educational programs, most notably our Peace Camps, that bring together school students and young adults to explore key topics such as peacebuilding, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and intercultural understanding.

Our approach is practical, inclusive, and youth-centered. Through workshops, discussions, and experiential learning, participants develop the skills and mindset needed to become active contributors to more peaceful and resilient communities.

MISSION

Peace in Our Schools aims to empower the next generation with the knowledge, values, and tools necessary to build sustainable peace, starting from schools and expanding into society.

Aligned with UN Security Council Resolutions 2250 & 2419 and Sustainable Development Goal 16, our work supports youth participation in peace processes and promotes strong, inclusive institutions.

VISSION

A world where young people lead with empathy, resolve conflicts peacefully, and actively contribute to building inclusive and just societies.

IMPACT

Peace in Our Schools has been implemented across multiple countries, where we have actively worked with young people to promote tolerance, dialogue, and social cohesion.

Our work has been internationally recognized, including receiving an award from the Basel Peace Office, highlighting the impact of our grassroots peacebuilding initiatives.

Why we do what we do

Peace in Our Schools is an independent organization dedicated to advancing youth-led peacebuilding initiatives. It works in close partnership with the Network of Former Youth Delegates to the United Nations, engaging a global community of young leaders, educators, and peace practitioners to promote dialogue, understanding, and lasting peace.

“Young people from different backgrounds should work together to build conditions for peace, combat hate of all kinds, and make the world a more peaceful place for future generations so that no children’s dreams either in Afghanistan and Georgia or anywhere in the world are shattered by war, hate, and violence”.
- Ramiz Bakhtiar
Co-founder of the Network of Former Youth Delegates to the United Nations

“I truly believe that lack of Peace Education is the main cause of hate speech, which is why we need to fight antisemitism on a root level, by working with young people. That is exactly what the Peace in Our Schools project would like to achieve. We are not simply working together to teach the future generations about peace, but also showing with our very own example that peace is possible”.
- Lika Torikashvili
Co-founder of the Network of Former Youth Delegates to the United Nations

OUR PARTNERS AND SUPPORTERS

Peace in Our Schools began collaborating with the World Jewish Congress in 2020 through the Campus Pitch global grant competition, where the initiative was selected as a winning proposal. Since then, the partnership has supported its growth, international visibility, and engagement within the WJC’s NextGenInc global think tank.

Peace in Our Schools received the Peace, Nuclear Abolition and Climate Engaged Youth (PACEY) Award of the Basel Peace Office in 2022. The PACEY Award promotes creative initiatives aimed at enabling young people to take the lead in driving positive change in the areas of peace, climate security, and disarmament. With support from the Basel Peace Office, we are working with Ukrainian youth refugees in Georgia.

Peace in Our Schools collaborates with Bennington College, particularly through its Center for the Advancement of Public Action. Faculty members support our work by contributing to the development of peace education workshops and curricula, as well as strengthening our research in key areas such as conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, interfaith dialogue, and peacebuilding.
